Guild Ball Showcase: The Masons

Next in my series of Guild Ball showcases, it is the MASONS! The builders of the Guild Ball world, these guys have lots of armour which makes them a tough nut to crack. They can also deal out the pain with players like Mallet and Chisel (AKA CHISSLE) but equally can score goals with relative ease with Flint.
These guys were my second team but I haven't really had chance to play with them yet as I have been learning how to use the Fish.

Wyldstyle!
I am still missing Brick from the original line up and there are also a few union players who can play for the Masons I need to get. Once I have painted my Union team I may revisit these guys. Chisel is probably one of my favourite models in the entire range, she was a dream to paint. You may be able see in the photos I gave her Wyldstyle themed hair.

Next up will be the Union showcase! Hopefully with Captain Rage!!!!!!!!

Guild Ball Showcase: The Union

''Who are the Union? A mismatched bunch o’ mercenaries, scum and criminals for the most part. You wouldn’t want to meet any of them in a dark alley late at night.
Nobody really knows when orders from above won’t turn up and you’ll have one of them playing for you. How it is that they manage to worm their way into everyone’s teams is beyond my ken. Something to do with the lads high up in the guilds is all anyone can tell you, and even that’s probably guesswork more than truth.
All I know is that you never trust them. Watch them carefully, even when they’re on your side; they might not be next time around.''
- Flint, Mason’s Guild Vice Captain

It's time for another showcase! This time it is team 3/5 and it is the UNION! As I have started collecting more and more teams, I have also bought the relevant union members to go with them. With the release of Rage 2.0 and my win at the Grinstead Cup, I decided to invest in a Union captain and Coin (the mascot) to bring the Union up to a fully fledged team.

I really enjoyed painting Rage 2.0 and especially liked giving him a pundit green top hat! I also gave Decimate a pundit green Beret to continue the theme.

There are still a few union players to pick up but with the Hunter's Guild release now on the horizon, they may have to wait. The next showcase will be my Alchemists painted up by Chris Hay/ Jay Finnegan of Guild Ball Informer.

The Grinstead Cup Review

Well that was a blast! Thanks to everyone who supported our very first Guild Ball event here at Mid Sussex Wargamers! Massive thanks to Jay Finnegan (Pundit Quartermaster and 1/2 of Guild Ball Informer) who came down from Manchester to run and TO the event. It was very much appreciated. Also a massive thank you to all the guys (and girl) from 1066 in Hastings! Your support is invaluable and I look forward to repaying the favour at Field of Screams!

Onto some pictures from the event itself and of the winners:

PUNDITS ASSEMBLE!

1st Place - Sam Page and his Fish!

2nd Place - Oli Curant and his Masons
3rd Place - Daniel Adams and his Butchers

Best Goal - Ed Churchman and his Brewers
Best Painted Guild - Charles Nurser and his Engineers

Final Standings

I was completely amazed to win all 5 of my games in only my second tournament. I went in with the aim of winning maybe 1 or 2 but all 5? Didn't even consider it. I had 5 fantastic games which culminated in claiming a hard fought victory over my Butcher nemesis Daniel Adams (I was on a 6 game losing streak to him).

Shark was definitely my MVP with 7 goals in 5 games but then he is my captain and that is his job. Snakeskin gets an honourable mention for scoring a vital goal against Dustin's Engineers in game 4 when the game was finely balanced. That momentous tackle/ 1" dodge result is the best.

Pretty much all I hear when Shark does his thing!

Thanks again all for attending and we hope to see you all again down south soon!

Happy Wargaming guys!

Guildball - Fishermen Showcase

Hi Guys, time for something slightly different today. As of about 10 minutes ago, I have finally finished painting the last member of my Fishermen Guild (that I own).

For those who don't know, Guild ball is a medieval football game set in a pseudo-historical world. It is similar to Bloodbowl but without the Xenos species.
For more information on Guild ball, go here http://guildball.com/

Also check out the Guild ball informer youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxKMVI6BtprAOSPt-vPXDOw

Guild Ball was originally a Kickstarter from Steamforged games and has really taken off all over the world. There are more and more tournaments being held as the game continues to grow.

The Fishermen Guild are one of the first guilds which were announced. These guys are the Barcelona of the Guildball world, they just love to play the beautiful game the way it was supposed to be played. When I was looking to get into Guild Ball, I went for models that sounded and looked coolest. After much perusing of the online shop, I settled on the Fishermen. Who could turn down a guild who could UNLEASH THE KRAKEN!!

Ahem...on with the pictures :)

A sneak peak at the next guild on my paint station, The Masons!

So these models are an absolute pain to assemble, some of the worst ones I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Some of the contact areas for gluing/ connecting to the base leave much to be desired but once you get past that, they are fantastic to paint.

I have really enjoyed painting the fishermen guild, it has given me a reason to improve my flesh painting technique. Next up for them will be the players I am missing; Greyscales, Jac and the new player Sakana. I may also get a few union members just to increase the variety.

As you have seen above, I also own the Masons Guild. These guys are great all-rounders and wear a lot of armour which makes them tough to beat up. I will probably try and get these done before I get the next lot of fishermen players.

Keep an eye out for another Showcase within the next month or so.

I hope you enjoyed this brief showcase of my Fishermen Guild. If you would to learn to play, or come to MSWG and have a game, please email midsussexwargamers@gmail.com and I'll be happy to arrange something.

Happy Wargaming Guys!!
